Is Hawaii about to have a Scott Brown experience of their own?

Mar8

Charles Djou. Does that name ring a bell?

Unless you live in Hawaii, you probably have no idea who he is. But if you follow politics, you’ll soon be hearing the name a lot more.

First, to be clear, Honolulu Councilman Charles Djou (R) has an extremely uphill battle for the seat in Hawaii’s 1st Congressional District. The district is heavily Democrat as far as voters go, and it’s been about two decades since a Republican held the seat.

But thanks to Democratic Rep. Neil Abercrombie, who is now running for Governor, the seat is vacant. There are a few things (more…)

Scott Brown Victory…The New Boston Massacre: A Post Mortem

Jan20

Words can’t describe the utter elation, in the room, after it was clear what Scott Brown had accomplished, the seemingly impossible… by winning the Massachusetts U.S. Senate seat once held, in almost perpetuity, by Teddy Kennedy Scott Brown has just changed the political landscape in the 2010 election cycle.

As a liberty movement activist and blogger, I can tell you, my heart jumped out of my chest — reveling in the implications this race will have on the rest of the 2010 cycle and the influence this win has just made on a number of races throughout this country.

This election cycle will now be one for the record books, mark my words, this 2010 election season will see incumbents booted… and free market – defenders of liberty elected!

73wire (Steve Foley and Eric Odom) would like to acknowledge the hard work, exceptional dedication, and vigilance of Ali Akbar! Ali made possible the first, of what should be many, bloggers row’s conducted by a large campaign. His tireless efforts and dedicated enthusiasm, to make it work and get the job done, was the only reason bloggers had a seat at the table… a courtesy that should be at the forefront of every campaign in the future!

Though the campaign itself will only realize it latter, Bloggers narrowed the gap here in Massachusetts and what people still call, new media, has earned the right to be acknowledged, courted, and treated with respect by campaigns going forward.

We’d also like to acknowledge the work and friendship of Robert Stacy McCain. Stacy is a rare and valued species in the blogosphere like, yours truly, and other bloggers who’ve been around awhile — Stacy is quick with a H/T and always credits his sources (when he can) a trait that is quickly being ignored by a new generation of inexperienced bloggers.

Some other great bloggers that were hanging with us on bloggers row were Pamela Geller AKA (Atlas Shrugs), Gerrett Quinn from Red Mass Group, Michael Moynihan from Reason, Kerry Picket from the Washington Times, and a host of other bloggers and radio personalities who were there to witness the shifting of the paradigm.

This experience has been incredible and I can’t write another word without thanking our members. the members of Tax Day Tea Party, regular readers of 73wire.com and the Minority Report are rock stars when it comes to activism… it’s all because of you and your generous donation that we’re able to attend and cover these types of events and you deserve to recognized for the extremely vital role you play… Thank You!

It has been a pleasure and a privilege to witness and cover, what seemed three weeks ago to be a lost cause or fools errand, and I hope you all are proud of the work we’ve done and continue to do. You should be equally proud of yourselves for not giving up or giving in when all seemed to be lost and our government was ignoring your will and passing liberty crushing bills in the dead of night. As long as we draw breath and as long as you keep sending us… we will be here, ever vigilant, persuiong and bringing you the truth!

I want to leave you with what we’re dubbing the “Official Theme Song” for the 2010 and 2012 election cycles:

WSJ: How Scott Brown Used Google to Get Results in Mass. Election

Jan19

From the Wall Street Journal

UPDATE: This post has been updated to include comments from Scott Brown’s campaign.

Politics aside, you can count Google as a clear supporter of at least one aspect of Republican Senate candidate Scott Brown’s campaign — the use of online media. “He has definitely run a model campaign,” Google spokesman Galen Panger said in an interview with Digits. “He has really adopted every single tool in the Google arsenal.”

There’s been a lot of news out today about how Mr. Brown has used social networking tools to help his campaign against Democrat Martha Coakley for a crucial Senate seat in Massachusetts. But amid all the talk of Twitter and Facebook, a slightly less sexy but still powerful tool has often been overlooked — the campaign’s groundbreaking use of Google to drive volunteers and voters.

Beginning Thursday, the Brown campaign began what’s known as a Google network blast, an advertising tactic that floods Google content network Web pages in a particular geographic area with display ads from one advertiser. “If you were in Massachusetts, pretty much all day every day you would see a Scott Brown ad,” Mr. Panger said, adding that earlier ads encouraged people to volunteer for the campaign, while later ones focused on getting out the vote.
