The Democat disconnect in MA
Jan17Politico is reporting that Boston Mayor Tom Menino doesn’t seem to like that the internet is being used to help push back against the liberal machine in MA.
Boston Mayor Tom Menino, speaking in the run-up to Obama’s speech here in Boston, adopts a novel way to denounce the outside groups pouring money (on both sides) into Massachusetts.
“Who’s behind these dot coms?” Menino demanded. “They’re spending more money on this campaign than I’ve ever seen in my whole life.”
If you really think about it, this scenario paints a good picture of why and how Democrats seem to be out of touch with the general electorate.
Who’s behind these “dot coms” is not so much important. What’s important is that individual Americans are the people donating through them. It seems to me that the Mayor’s main complaint is the money being spent in the race, not the websites used to gather it.
So while the Mayor attempts to suggest there is some sort of sinister conspiracy of websites, he completely ignores the fact that it’s all grassroots money.
What would he prefer? Union and special interest money of the likes that Coakley enjoys?
