McConnell, Boehner Name Six to Deficit Commission
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and House Republican Leader John Boehner on Friday each named three members to the President’s deficit commission.
Leader McConnell named Sens. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) to represent Senate Republicans on the commission.
Leader Boehner named Reps. Dave Camp (R-Mich.), Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), and Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) to represent House Republicans on the commission.
“Americans are rightly concerned about the growth of government, while the rest of the country has been tightening their belts,” said McConnell. “Sens. Gregg, Crapo, and Coburn are serious defenders of the taxpayer, and I am confident they will provide commonsense recommendations to reduce Washington spending.”
“Our nation is in a fiscal crisis and our future depends on stopping the spending spree in Washington that is saddling our children and grandchildren with trillions of dollars in debt,” said Boehner. “As leading fiscal conservatives, Dave Camp, Paul Ryan, and Jeb Hensarling know what it takes to address our long-term challenges while protecting taxpayers.”
