This one’s going to be fun. When the 50Seats Project began, Arlen Specter was the incumbent. Thanks to Joe Sestak, and a wiser Pennsylvania electorate, that is no longer the case; Specter was bounced OUT of the race for US Senate back on May 18, 2010 in Pennsylvania’s primary by a comfy 7 point margin. Good for Pennsylvania.
The General election in November will pit Sestak up against Pat Toomey and given everything we know, this one’s already Toomey’s to lose. We’ll see what the polls and the experts have to say about the race for this now-open US Senate seat in 2010 after the jump…
Toomey cleared his primary against Peg Luksik by better than 60 points. He was a 4-term US Representative from Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional district, and his voting record during those years holds up very well against Conservative standards.
DC Political Report points to a number of polls that are all over the map; some have Toomey leading, some have him tied, and some have him behind. WaPo is calling this race a “Toss Up”, yet shows Toomey with twice the money that Sestak has.
CQ Politics , (also calling this one a “Toss Up” says this:
After initial concerns about his viability as the general election nominee, the national party establishment lined up behind Toomey. The National Republican Senatorial Committee has formally endorsed him.
Fasten your seat belts — it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
Bumpy ride indeed. Pat Toomey’s website is HERE. He’s one of us, and needs all the support we can muster to take him across the finish line in November. Give hm a visit, donate if you can, but most of all-support his campaign; Specter or Sestak…either one is a lose-lose for Pennsylvania and the rest of the Country.
