Whether or not Obamacare/Pelosicare can make it through Senate remains to be seen, but there is no doubt now that earlier claims made by the White House about certain parts of their desired legislation simply aren’t true.
And more Americans are starting to realize it.
A report by the Heritage Foundation sent out by email this morning found the following:
1) Will we be forced to lose our private insurance coverage?
“However, a number of workers who currently have employer coverage would likely become enrolled in the expanded Medicaid program or receive subsidized coverage through the Exchange. For example, some smaller employers would be inclined to terminate their existing coverage, and companies with low average salaries might find it to their – and their employees’ – advantage to end their plans … We estimate that such actions would collectively reduce the number of people with employer-sponsored health coverage by about 12 million.”
Did you catch that? MILLIONS of Americans will lose their private health insurance coverage.
2) Will healthcare coverage become more expensive?
“In aggregate, we estimate that for calendar years 2010 through 2019 [national health expenditures (NHE)] would increase by $289 billion, or 0.8 percent, over the updates baseline projection that was released on June 29, 2009.”
From what I see here, the healthcare legislation that was supposed to help make insurance more affordable, actually makes it less affordable.
3) Are there really going to be fines for opting out?
“18 million are estimated to choose not to be insured and to pay the penalty associated with the individual mandate. For the most part, these would be individuals with relatively low health care expenses for whom the individual or family insurance premium would be significantly in excess of the penalty and their anticipated health benefit value.”
This is a very strategic move by the government. Lawmakers have provided two options for Americans. The first is more expensive, and requires that you opt in to the plan. The second is less expensive, and requires that you pay a “fine” to the government for permission to opt out.
Oh… and if you opt out, you will have virtually no avenue for insurance coverage.
4) Is it true that I could lose my Medicare Advantage?
“Section 1161 of Division B of H.R. 3962 would set Medicare Advantage capitation benchmarks … We estimate that in 2014 when the MA provisions would be fully phased in, enrollment in MA plans would decreased by 64 percent (from its projected level of 13.2 million under current law to 4.7 million under the proposal).”
8.5 million of seniors would lose a major portion of existing benefits.
5) Is this a shift to socialist welfare programs?
“Of the additional 34 million who are estimated to be insured in 2019 as a result of H.R. 3962, about three-fifths (21 million) would receive Medicaid coverage due to the expansion of eligibility to those adults under 150 percent of the FPL.”
Heritage Foundation interprets this to show that more than half of healthcare recipients, under the plan, would be on welfare benefits through Medicaid.
As support continues to tank an a vital election cycle nears, I have to wonder how far the Senate will go to carry water for this monstrosity healthcare legislation.
Time will tell.

I am appalled at this bill – it is amazing to me that anyone would vote for it much less get it passed. Thanks for the continued update.
Hopefully, people will note that the Pelosi Plan was not supported by Republicans.
Health care, Cap and trade and all of the bail outs and stimulus go against the will of the people and do nothing but grow an out of control government.
It is time to vote all incumbents out of office and send the career politicians home for good.

imbedded in this bill is a clause that says that all medical participants/vendors must be unionized – thereby forcing SEIU to represent ALL healthcare workers. Even small doctors offices with 3-4 employees and clerical workers. …and even doctors themselves. And even medical supply companies. The unions have destroyed every industry they have touched. This is much more critical than arguing over abortion. Talk about raising the costs !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope America will wake up soon enough to realize what this will do to our liberty if this passed..

Most People do not realize that our goverment SERVANTS have already voted on and pass a health care plan for themselves without a problem. They will never have to be on our plan!! They didn’t have a problem giveing themselves a raise either.
Any law passed should apply equaly to all senators and representatives!!!!!! You would think that would already be a law but it’s not.
From day one, when Obama became President, he has done nothing but campaign. Now with this health care bill, it pushes us to communism. The Government will have control of how much you make, where you live, How much you spend, what doctors you can see, what car you drive. how much gas you use. If this health care bil passes, your life is determined by the Government, if your over 50, then start preparing to die before you reach 65.

(a) Purposes- It is the purpose of this section to authorize grants to–
……… (3) provide training programs through education and training
organizations jointly administered by health care providers and
health care labor organizations or other organizations representing
staff nurses and frontline health care workers, working in
collaboration with accredited schools of nursing and academic
institutions.
(c) Eligibility- To be eligible for a grant under this section, an entity shall be–
(1) a health care entity that is jointly administered by a health care
employer and a labor union representing the health care
employees of the employer and that carries out activities using
labor-management training funds as provided for under section
302(c)(6) of the Labor Management Relations Act, 1947 (29
U.S.C. 186(c)(6));
(3) a State training partnership program that consists of nonprofit
organizations that include equal participation from industry,
including public or private employers, and labor organizations
including joint labor-management training programs, and which
may include representatives from local governments, worker
investment agency one-stop career centers, community-based
organizations, community colleges, and accredited schools of
nursing; or
(d) Additional Requirements for Health Care Employer Described in Subsection (c)- To be eligible for a grant under this section, a health care employer described in subsection (c) shall demonstrate that it–
(2) provides wages and benefits to its nurses that are competitive
for its market or that have been collectively bargained with a
labor organization; and
(B) Contributions to a joint labor-management training fund
which administers the program involved.
(E) The payment of tuition assistance which is managed by
a joint labor-management training fund or other jointly
administered program.
These are good points for us to use with our friends and neighbors. My greatest fear is that the repubs will compromise with the idiotas, instead of standing firm for the real reforms that can fix the system and not cost anything.

My biggest concern is that the public option could, in the name of affordability, undercut the insurance companies and by default become a universal option.
The key to success should be making the free market work and encouraging as many people as possible to use free market options for coverage. The more people are signed up under the public option the more and more likely this health reform fails.
While we are in the process of “Dumping the Dem’s in 2010, Flipping the house and removing all the career politicians, Killing the Obamacare and Cap & Tax bills, We should be adding the Main Stream Media (MSM) to our hit list.
One of the main problems the American people have today is they get their information from the MSM who refuses to report the whole truth.

Imagine this .. Nancy Pelosi’s state of California went bankrupt on her watch and they still kept her, now she wants to bankrupt all of America, how dare her, and her collegues do this.
