Colorado state Senator Josh Penry (R) is planning to end his campaign for Colorado governor and endorse former state representative, Scott McInnis (R), according to reports in the Washington Post. The decision has shocked national GOP leaders as he was considered a rising star in the party.
There are reports that Penry is leaving in order to give better chances for a GOP win. This coming from events in New York’s 23rd District Election where grassroots conservatives and Tea Party activists backed an independent, Doug Hoffman over Progressive/Liberal leaning GOP candidate Debe Scozzafava. Its been reported that perhaps Penry wants this to be a GOP win in order to send a message to Pelosi and Obama. His running could spoil the election for the GOP/Convservative movement handing the office to the Democrats.
Perhaps conservative and Tea Party grassroots are changing GOP minds, even last week Michael Steele has been quoted as saying he would go after Republicans that side with Pelosi and Obama.
